Community Engagement

May 2021 Update:

  • Presented Update at 37th Ward meeting 
  • Attended Mothers Day Community Event, spoke with over 250 residents 
  • Hosted meetings with two local neighborhood groups over Zoom, with over 60 attendees 
  • Hosted first construction workshop with over 35 attendees

June 2021 Update: 

  • Began recruitment for Youth Council¬†
  • Hosted community information meeting advertised locally via newspaper, social media, flyers and word of mouth with over 40 attendees
  • Hosted second construction workshop with over 20 attendees
  • Construction will begin in August 2021 with an expected grand opening in Fall 2022

Historical Summary:

  • Engaged with over 3,000 residents within 1.5 miles
  • Presented at eight 37th Ward meetings, attending the meeting monthly
  • Regularly meet with community residents, leaders and officials
  • Conducted two bus tours:
    •  One showing an overview of the proposed location 
    • Bringing 37th Ward residents down to the Pullman Community Center to tour  
  •  Engaged schools
    • Hosted two student focus groups
    • Meeting with principals
  • Youth Engagement: 
    •  Forming a Youth Council
